Usually just one or two sentences long, the hook for your blurb must be:

• Eye-catching
• Original
• Clever
• Effortless to read
• On-brand
• Snappy...

...AND it must evoke feelings of suspense, curiosity and interest in your ideal readers.

If that sounds like a tall order, it's because it is.

A badly written hook can cost you readers — and it's the single most common part of a blurb for rookies to mess up.

Why?

Because while carefully honed storytelling skills are exactly what makes most authors well positioned to write amazing blurbs...writing the hook is a separate skill entirely.

In fact, it's the only part of the blurb-writing process where I'll concede it really pays off to think like a marketer.

And if you're not used to doing that, hooks can be a minefield.

So much so, that even trad publishers often drop the ball.

But their error is your opportunity — if you know how.

Why did you create this training?
